Yep, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve had a chance to update this blog and let people know what’s going on with the Irreverent Blogs network.  Hopefully it was the only lull in activity though.  There of course have been a ton of posts on all of our blogs so I won’t go into details on each one.  I will say to be sure to visit all of the sites to see what’s going on.

Once announcement I will make is to welcome Cherie Wallace to the Irreverent Blogs group.  You can find her blog, entitled No June Cleaver at http://missinginstructions.irreverentblogs.com.  Cherie is the first blogger to take advantage of the free linking that we provide.  I’ll be updating you on her blog here regularly now.  Also, once I can find some time, the podcast will be starting.

Keep in mind, if you’re interested in getting your blog featured on Irreverent Blogs regularly, feel free to contact me.  There’s no need to change your URL as Cherie is an example of.

If you don’t have a blog but are interested in getting one, I can help there too.  As well, maybe you don’t want to blog at all.  If you’re just interested in reading what’s going on with the network, be sure to follow irreverentblogs on Twitter!

Hello again to all of our readers.  I wanted to get in one more update before I published the first weekly podcast for Irreverent Blogs.  We still only have four blogs that we’re hosting but just these four are producing some great content.

What Life Has Become-Rachel has written several posts since the last update here and they really do a lot to show how difficult it can be to deal with diabetes on a daily basis, both as a parent and as an adult suffering from the disease.  If anyone you know is affected by diabetes, I encourage you to take a look at a video she shared from another diabetic blogger.

Cheap Geek-Josh has been busy in the last few days sharing his experience with trying to get QAM channels working in Windows Media Center.  I can tell you from personal experience that this is no easy feat.

Entertainment 2.0-I was able to get a few posts in this week amongst changing our web host.  Hopefully at this point the blogs and the network over all will be much more stable.  I posted the finalists for the CEA annual Award of Excellence which will be handed out in March.  Also, you can head to the blog and watch a quick video showing you how well both HeatWave and Open Media Library integrated into Windows Media Center 7.  As well, check out the newest blogs on The Digital Lifestyle.

You should be able to expect the first podcast reviewing the blogs for the week to hit sometime either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.

Remember, whether you already have a blog and want some free promotion, or you’re interested in starting a blog, we can help.  Feel free to contact me for more info!

I figured I’d better stop calling these daily roundups until I can get time to do one every day!  Anyway, there are some good posts on the network today and I wanted to make sure I feature them.

First up today is Entertainment 2.0.  Every Tuesday night at 7:30pm eastern, I do a live show related to Media Center using the Talkshoe network.  While there were some issues getting it started last night I was able to get the show in.  You can find it here.  I also posted a review of PlayOn today.  Have a look.  It might be something you can use!

Rachel from What Life Has Become blogged about an article she read about how people with diabetes, children included might never be able to obtain life insurance.  Something pretty important to consider if you know someone with a pre-existing condition.

Josh over at Cheap Geek has posted a review of a new Windows Mobile Twitter client he’s started using which seems to offer a lot of nice features for twitter users.

That’s it for today!  I look forward to recording the first podcast for the network sometime this weekend.  Keep an eye out for it next week!

Happy Ground Hog’s day everyone!  While we can’t get Phil to keep a blog here, the people who have their blogs with us were busy yesterday and today.

Today, Cheap Geek asks whether or not netbooks will affect the development of 3rd party applications for Media Center.  I personally hope not but we’ll have to wait and see where that goes.

Relating to Cheap Geek, Entertainment 2.0 posted the latest podcast where Josh was a co-host this week.  It was a pleasure to have him on the show and I look forward to him returning soon.

While I was mixing together the Entertainment 2.0 podcast, I was doing the same thing for HTPCentric, which posted the first of what is hopefully many podcasts.  Co-hosted by Tim Campbell, HTPCentric expands to cover the entire HTPC industry and I look forward to future shows with my co-host.

Last but not least, Rachel of What Life Has Become shared frustration over having to travel over 2 hours each way to make sure our diabetic child sees his doctor at regular intervals.  Sure would be nice if our local hospital could provide a service that not just our son, but a lot of kids in the area need.

Thanks to everyone for keeping the content flowing and thanks to our readers.  Remember, if you’d like to contribute, just get in touch and we’ll help you out!

Didn’t get a chance to post this until this morning.  Wow, what a busy weekend.  Hope no one minds.  It being the weekend, things slow down for us a bit here but I still want to keep you up on what’s going on with our bloggers.

Yesterday, What Life Has Become posted an article showing what has to be packed up every time she leaves the house with her diabetic son.  Not fun, believe me.

HTPCentric posed the question of whether the HTPC is dead.  Referring to an article from another site which made the case that people don’t want a computer in the living room.  Head over and leave your opinion!

Again, with it being the weekend, everyone slows down their online activity.  Look forward to some great posts later this week!.  And don’t forget, whether you are new to blogging or already have a blog and want to take advantage of free promotion, we can help.  Join the Irreverent Blogs network!

Blog Round Up for 1/30/2009

Even though there have been “Irreverent Bloggers” around for over six months now, today is the first day I get to do a daily blog round up.  It’s fun to read the stuff that people post even if it’s not something I’m usually interested in.

Take Josh Pollard’s post over on Cheap Geek.  I don’t own a mobile phone, much less a smartphone.  Reading his article though made me wish we had better service where we live and that I actually had a need for one.  Working from home has its advantages and being close to a VoiP line is one of them.

What Life Has Become saw updates today as well.  I’m married to the author so I get to read them all and believe me when I tell you, diabetes isn’t easy to live with.  It’s hard for me to blog about it but Rachel does a great job.  Diabetes affects a lot of people and she’s providing some great insight into living with it.

Entertainment 2.0 today provided a review of the Missing Remote integration of Boxee with Windows Media Center and HTPCentric posted a great deal on an HTPC case if you’re looking to start a project.  Head over and check them out!

Welcome to Irreverent Blogs

Yep, this is the first post.  The first of many.  This is where we’ll have daily features from our network.  While it’s small now, it’s going to grow.

irrevsmalllogo Irreverent Blogs is simple:  Everyone has something to say and we want to help you say it.  This is a hands on blog network.  We don’t send you to a “create an account” page, tell you what to fill out and then leave you stranded not knowing what to do next.

I’m not going to take time to spell it out here.  If you read the pages listed in the header you can find out all about it.  Just know this:  If you want people to hear what you have to say, we’ll help you get it to them.

Again, we’re small.  That’s how most things start out.  But don’t let that confuse you.  Our goal is to help as many people as possible and grow as large as possible.  If you’d like to be a part of it then I encourage you to click here and find out how.  If you have questions, never hesitate to ask.
